Cultural and natural heritage are key resources for the future of Iraqi Kurdistan. They tell the story of the region, strengthen local identity, and can create new opportunities for education, tourism and employment.
IP-CHART was created to help protect and promote this heritage in a sustainable way. The project supports universities, students and local stakeholders in developing the skills, tools and cooperation needed to study, preserve and enhance cultural and natural heritage, while contributing to local development and sustainable tourism.
IP-CHART aims to create lasting benefits for universities, students and local communities in Iraqi Kurdistan.
- In the short term, the project offers new training, workshops and hands-on research opportunities through dedicated laboratories.
- In the medium term, it strengthens teaching capacities, supports practical learning and improves students’ employability in the cultural heritage and tourism sectors.
- In the long term, it supports a stronger framework for heritage preservation, sustainable tourism and local development, ensuring that universities and stakeholders can continue creating impact beyond the project’s lifetime.
IP-CHART combines academic innovation with hands-on experience. Through training activities, new study pathways, applied research, laboratories and collaboration with local stakeholders, the project prepares future professionals to study, preserve and promote cultural and natural heritage in sustainable and innovative ways.
